Dr. Maren Olson

MAREN OLSON, MD, MPH, MEd

DIRECTOR

Dr. Olson is a pediatric hospitalist at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, an associate program director for the Pediatric Residency at the University of Minnesota, and a faculty advisor for medical students. She is passionate about the power of storytelling to build connection, foster empathy and promote resilience.

Dr. Ben Trappey

BEN TRAPPEY, MD

DIRECTOR

Dr. Trappey is a Med-Peds hospitalist at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. He is passionate about helping other providers become more effective storytellers through programs and events like story slams, storytelling workshops and electives.

Dr. Jon Hallberg

JON HALLBERG, MD

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Dr. Hallberg has long been an active patron, participant and volunteer in the Twin Cities arts community, and he has woven medicine and the arts together in myriad ways since he was a medical student. As medical director of the innovative and award-winning Mill City Clinic, he has been able to create a unique space where the art of medicine is carried out seamlessly.

Dr. Tseganesh Selameab

TSEGANESH SELAMEAB, MD

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Dr. Selameab (she/her) practices internal medicine in St. Paul, with a focus on refugee and immigrant populations as well as urban-underserved and community-based advocacy. Storytelling has been a part of Dr. Selameab’s medical journey for years, and she has shared her written work at the University of Minnesota Medical School White Coat ceremony, at regional medical conferences, and has participated in several local and national storytelling events.

Dr. Anthony Williams

ANTHONY WILLIAMS, MD, MS

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Dr. Williams is a Med-Peds hospitalist at HealthPartners who splits his clinical time between Regions and Children’s Minnesota. He is also an Associate Program Director of the Med-Peds residency program at the University of Minnesota. He is passionate about creative writing and the power of narrative expression to cultivate resilience.

Jennie Magner

JENNIE MAGNER, MA

PROGRAM MANAGER

Jennie has a BFA in visual art (two-dimensional design) and MA in comparative and international development education. She enjoys merging her academic backgrounds in education, art, and international work through CFAM’s creative and interdisciplinary work.
