Linden is named Brunning Professor
Dean Tolar has appointed LMP professor Michael Linden to the Brunning Professorship named after hematopathologist Richard D. Brunning who retired in 1998 after 33 years as an LMP faculty member. Dean Tolar writes: “The fund was established to attract and/or retain an outstanding senior faculty member who will provide academic and research leadership in the area of hematopathology.”
Hematopathology at the University of Minnesota “has a remarkable legacy spanning nearly 125 years,” Linden said. “Dr. Richard Brunning (Division Director, 1965–1998) and Dr. Robert McKenna (Division Director, 2007–2015, and former Brunning Professor) are internationally recognized leaders in hematopathology," he said, adding that "their contributions have significantly advanced the recognition and classification of hematologic malignancies in blood and bone marrow."
"I am deeply honored to be appointed to the Richard D. Brunning, MD Professorship and look forward to using this opportunity to support our faculty and further the research and educational missions of our Division," Linden said.
