LMP maintains its long-term NIH funding trendline

Based on the 2025 pathology rankings by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR), the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has maintained its National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding trendline in recent years, ranking among the top 15 academic pathology departments and the top 10 among public universities.

LMP brought in $18,441,228 in NIH funds in 2025, ranking No. 14 in pathology departments nationwide of 88 included in the survey.  LMP ranked No. 5 among public universities in 2025, trailing the University of Michigan, the University of Washington, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the University of Utah. 

In 2020, LMP brought in $13,844,532 in NIH funds.
