First Annual Department of Pediatrics Faculty and Staff Story Slam
We are excited to announce the First Annual Department of Pediatrics Faculty and Staff Story Slam to be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 5:00-7:00pm in the Barrel Room at Urban Growler.
Audience: Department of Pediatrics Faculty and Staff
You and a guest are invited to join us for a powerful evening of in-person storytelling with your fellow pediatric-community at this storytelling event where we honor the theme of connection through our stories. (Register for the event here)
In partnership with our colleagues from the Center for the Arts in Medicine this Moth-Like Story event is modeled after the successful story slam events they have held with trainees for the last several years. The events have proven to be powerful, meaningful, and engaging and we are excited to bring the experience to faculty and staff.
Have a story to share? Our theme is "Connection" and we encourage faculty and staff to submit stories for consideration. Stories should be about five-minutes (750 words or less) and select participants will be invited to read their stories at the event (no need to memorize)! Submit your story here by April 25 (you need not submit a story to attend).
We invite you to hold the theme of connection loosely - it can mean any number of things such as:
- Recognizing shared humanity with our patients, peers, coworkers, and community
- Finding commonality with people different than ourselves
- Struggling to find a common ground in times of conflict
