Faculty Spotlight: Nauroze Faizi , MD
The only child of a physician and a homemaker, Dr. Nauroze Faizi grew up in Patna, a city on the river Gange in North India. At the age of 17, he moved to New Delhi to attend medical school after being selected to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He spent the next 16 years in India’s capital, completing his medical education, including a radiology residency, and working as a staff radiologist.
In 2011, the RSNA annual conference brought Dr. Faizi and friend Dr. Sandeep Sharma to Chicago, where, in addition to falling in love with Chicago deep dish pizza, they were inspired to pursue careers in the United States. Dr. Faizi completed his radiology training at the University of Minnesota, eventually becoming part of our department’s Thoracoabdominal Imaging division. He now considers Minneapolis his home away from home, with “the best colleagues one can hope for.” Returning the sentiment, division director Dr. Ben Spilseth considers Dr. Faizi “one of the smartest radiologists to ever come to our department, yet his calm and peaceful demeanor is probably his best attribute. He is always professional and always there to help a colleague out of a difficult spot.”
Interested in pancreatic and hepatobiliary imaging, Dr. Faizi is excited about all there is to learn in the dynamic field of Radiology, especially with the ongoing paradigm shifts in imaging with the advent of AI. In addition to helping patients, Dr. Faizi is also passionate about medical education. “We have the smartest bunch of residents in our training program, and it's an honor to interact with such bright minds.”
Dr. Faizi and his wife, a software engineer, have an affectionate cat named Putti, who has been with them for four years. A self-proclaimed “audiophile,” Dr. Faizi listens to a diverse range of music genres, from Sufi to punk rock, on one of his high-resolution audio systems. He also enjoys TV shows, comic books, computer games, and mechanical keyboards.
