The Division of Vascular Surgery Welcomes Dr. David M. Ihnat
The Division of Vascular Surgery welcomes Daniel M. Ihnat, MD, as the new chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Ihnat has more than 25 years of experience in vascular surgery and has held leadership roles nationwide. He earned his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, completed his general surgery residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, and a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Arizona.
Before joining the University of Minnesota, Ihnat served as Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center for the past decade. His career has also included clinical and academic appointments at the University of Arizona and the University of Utah, as well as service as a vascular surgeon in the U.S. Air Force at Travis Air Force Base in California.
Dr. Ihnat specializes in complex open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, carotid artery revascularization for stroke prevention, peripheral arterial disease, and treatment of varicose veins. His research interests focus on surgical outcomes following interventions for peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery revascularization, aneurysm repair, hemodialysis access, and post-procedure surveillance.
