Erik B. Finger, MD, PhD, Awarded Distinguished McKnight University Professorship
We are proud to share that Dr. Erik B. Finger, Professor in the Division of Transplantation and Chair of Eunice L. Dawn Endowed Diabetes Research, has been named a Distinguished McKnight University Professor for 2025.

Dr. Finger leads an interdisciplinary team pioneering cryopreservation technologies. Collaborating with Mechanical Engineering experts, they preserve donor organs in a glass-like, ice-free state and safely rewarm them using nanotechnology.
His contributions have the potential to transform the future of transplantation worldwide, improving organ durability and patient outcomes. Their work aims to enhance organ durability, transplant success rates, and patient outcomes globally, transforming the future of transplantation.
