Rawan Almutlaq Honored with J. Jacob Kaplan Award and Dr. Marvin and Hadassah Bacaner Research Award
Rawan Almutlaq, a PhD candidate in the Evans Lab within the Department of Surgery’s Division of Autonomic Neuromodulation, has been selected to receive both the J. Jacob Kaplan Award and the Dr. Marvin and Hadassah Bacaner Research Award.
Rawan will be formally recognized at the Medical School’s annual Dean’s Tribute to Excellence in Education, celebrating excellence in education, scholarship, and research.
The J. Jacob Kaplan Award is presented to students who produce the most meritorious research papers in clinical or basic medical science. Each award includes a $5,000 prize and supports work in key fields such as immunology in cancer diagnosis and treatment, gastroenterology, and cardiology. The award is designed to encourage and recognize exceptional scholarly contributions from emerging investigators at the Medical School.
In addition, Rawan was selected to receive the Dr. Marvin and Hadassah Bacaner Research Award, which honors outstanding research achievement among graduate students in the basic sciences, as well as graduate students or faculty specializing in cardiology. Recipients are nominated by faculty mentors or colleagues in recognition of their impactful and innovative research.
