Lucy Zhou named Administrative Director of the Institute for Prostate and Urologic Cancers

The University of Minnesota Department of Urology is pleased to announce that Lucy Zhou, MPH will be the new Administrative Director of the Institute for Prostate and Urologic Cancers (IPUC). 

As Administrative Director (AD) of IPUC, Ms. Zhou will collaborate with the Director of IPUC and Department of Urology Head, Dr. Christopher Warlick, to implement a comprehensive plan aimed at achieving the Institute's goals: advancing urologic cancer care, improving patient education, fostering research, and promoting community engagement. Furthermore, she will help develop and oversee the strategic initiatives of IPUC, and serve as the public-facing liaison to patients and community stakeholders. In addition, Ms. Zhou will manage internal and external marketing and communications, and work closely with the University of Minnesota Foundation on fundraising campaigns. The AD will utilize the resources within the Department of Urology, the University of Minnesota Medical School, and the University of Minnesota to ensure consistent and effective operations in these endeavors. 

Prior to joining the Department of Urology, Ms. Zhou served as a consultant on the Business Consulting and Implementation (BCI) team at the Kaiser Permanente regional offices in Pasadena, California. In that role, she partnered with Southern California’s Pediatric Service Line Leader and other regional physician leaders to develop and present strategic plans and updates for executive leadership. Ms. Zhou also led the design and implementation of a regional pediatric screening strategy and facilitated cross-functional teams to expand care within the Pediatric service line. 

In addition to her consulting work in clinical care, Ms. Zhou also has experience managing and coordinating complex research projects for research groups in academic, clinical, and community settings. She holds a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Public Health from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. While attending the University of Minnesota, she was the Lab Manager at Mann Lab, where she oversaw project management and operations of five research studies amongst a team of 15 PhD and undergraduate students, as well as contributed to a publication in the field of health psychology. She went on to receive her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Care Management (HCM) from Yale School of Public Health in conjunction with Yale School of Management. 

Founded in 2005, the Institute for Prostate and Urologic Cancers focuses on common genitourinary cancers, including prostate, bladder, kidney, testis, and other urologic cancers. A collaboration between the University of Minnesota Medical Center and M Physicians, IPUC offers innovative medical treatments and support services. Its nationally and internationally recognized care team provides exceptional care to patients and their families.
