David A. Bernlohr, PhD, was a Distinguished McKnight Professor, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics, and the Cargill Chair in Systems Biology of Human Metabolism. His lab's research focused on the metabolic relationships between obesity and insulin action. The lab specifically examined cytoplasmic fatty acid binding proteins and their role(s) in mediating fatty acid metabolism in adipocytes and macrophages, particularly leukotriene synthesis. Dr. Bernlohr retired from BMBB in 2024.
