Congratulations to Dr. Niedernhofer and Sara McGowan on their recent award!

Dr. Laura Niedernhofer and Sara McGowan recently received a Research Infrastructure Investment grant through the OVPR office. This program is dedicated to strengthening the research infrastructure at UMN, ensuring the ongoing viability of critical facilities and research support services. It offers a great opportunity for interdisciplinary collaborations and fortifying the research framework within our university. We believe this project holds immense potential, both in terms of enhancing our research capabilities and advancing biomedical research within our institution. We are grateful for the support of the OVPR office and our collaborating partners in this endeavor.

Our project, titled "Re-Engineering Current LIMS Infrastructure to Support Biomedical Research," focuses on enhancing our existing Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This current MS Access-based configuration has major limitations, particularly in terms of multi-user capabilities and functionality. To address these challenges, we are utilizing this $160,000 grant and partnering with UMN's Health Sciences Technology Services (HST) to re-engineer the LIMS into a web-based platform. With the expertise of HST's skilled development and integration team, the goal is to create a more robust, accessible, and user-friendly system.
