Duluth: a known training hub for Native American physicians
The University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus was founded in 1972 with a mission to be a leader in educating physicians dedicated to family medicine, to serve the needs of rural Minnesota and Native American communities.
50+ years later we're very proud to continue to educate more Native American physicians than almost any other medical school in the United States!
It’s very hard for an Indigenous person to go through an academic setting. Our perspective isn’t inherently valued the same way as the mainstream.
