NATIVE AMERICANS INTO MEDICINE (NAM)

NAM is a seven-week summer enrichment program for college sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in pursuing health careers. The 2023 NAM Summer program will provide students with both qualitiative and quanitative research experience, using data from the Minnesota Youth Survey.   The dates of the program are June 20th-Aug 4th.  The 2023 NAM program is a two-summer cohort. 

Program instructors include a broad range of Native American faculty, health professionals, traditional elders, and medical students. Accepted NAM students earn a stipend for living expenses. Campus housing is also available for those traveling from outside the Duluth region.

Medical School Pre-Admission Workshop (PAW)

The Center hosts two Pre-Admission workshops during the year: The Great Lakes Native American Applicant Workshop in the Spring, and the AAIP Pre-Admission workshop, just prior to the Association of American Indian Physicans National Conference in the fall. 

 

The Great Lakes Native American Applicant Workshop is being held on March 27th and 28th. This workshop is a mult-day experuience for pre-health Native American students who plan to apply to medical school within the next two years. Students will meet various faculty and staff to learn about application tips as well as research, funding, and career development opprotunities avaialble to Native Students. 

 

Please fill out the application by Feb 17th, 2020, and be prepared to submit your unofficial transcript once contacted by the committee. Appllicants will be contacted with an admission decision by Feb 28th.
