UMIID Membership

Affiliate Member

Member has active research portfolio within the CIP’s area of research. Affiliate members receive updates about the CIP, may opt into events and activities periodically, or utilize center resources, but they are not actively involved or responsible for fulfilling the center’s operations or objectives.

Core Member

Member regularly works to expand center research capacity or fulfill center’s mission, opportunities, and objectives. Core members regularly advocate for and promote awareness of the CIP, participate in fundraising efforts for the CIP, acknowledge the CIP in presentations and publications, and collaborate with others within the CIP.

• Administrative support for UMIID related activities
• Grant writing support for UMIID related activities
• Instrumentation, facilities, shared equipment
• Space – can be considered when appropriate
• Collaborative research environment
• Scientific services: bioinformatics, data analysis, data storage if related to UMIID mission
• Post award resources and management support: implementation, subaward management, report writing, event management/planning, site visit support as appropriate for UMIID linked research
• Invitations to events, seminars, programming
• Access to internal grant and funding opportunities
• Mentorship/training opportunities for junior faculty
• Training/professional development opportunities for students and postdoctoral researchers

• To have active and current research within the scope of the UMIID mission ( to identify and respond to emerging and contemporary infectious diseases for outbreak and disease mitigation and control, and to train the next generation of pandemic and epidemic response experts)
• To strive to expand the institute’s research capacity, mission, education, or training objectives
• To advocate for and on behalf of UMIID
• To actively engage with CIP events and activities
• Acknowledge UMIID appropriately in publications and presentations
