11/16/2022 - Licensed Funeral Director/Intern

Who we are:  O'Connell Funeral Homes in Hudson and Baldwin, WI is seeking a funeral director, intern, or apprentice to fill an open position. Being a family owned and operated firm, each director on our team plays a vital role in many aspects of the business. We take pride in walking closely with each family that we serve and unlike many funeral homes in the area, each director handles a wide range of tasks - from prep room duties, to pre-arrangements and designing monuments, to memorial products and services, to community activities and sales. No day will truly be like the last at O'Connells and the breadth of knowledge and experience you gain here will far surpass any other!

This position is full time with a competitive salary, amazing PTO and time off compensations, along with health, dental, and eye benefits, IRA-matched contributions, clothing and phone allowances, and paid licenses and CEU costs. Our in-office schedule is M-F 8:30-5, which includes 1 night per week solo on-call time and every third weekend on-call paired with another director (so can have flexibility with need and demands). We also have our own on-site crematory and each of our directors are dual licensed in both MN and WI.

O'Connells have a long and successful reputation in our communities as being innovative, creative, personalized, detail oriented, and passionate about educating those we serve on the importance funerals have for those who are grieving.

There's no doubt that you'll work hard here, but it will be met with just as much fun and laughs too! We're more than coworkers here, we're family - so we are looking for someone to contribute to our company culture of not only hard work, but fun too.

If you are interested in joining an amazing team and being a part of a company that truly emulates why you likely pursued this career in the first place, we would love to hear from you!

Where we are: Hudson and Baldwin are amazing communities, with areas in between that feel like both city and country living. Because of this, we have a wide range of wonderful clients that we serve. Our cremation rate is about 65%, and the majority are still having services or celebrations at our chapels or local churches and event centers. Because we are so engrained in the community, many of the faces that come in to the funeral home are familiar, friendly, and welcoming. We are truly lucky to serve the communities that we do!

Requirements & Qualifications:

We are open! We would love someone with experience in the industry, but are just as open to training too! The benefit of working at a WI licensed funeral home is that apprenticeship is a great first step to gain industry experience while working for our funeral home, for those seeking to pursue schooling. If you are interested in learning more about this, don't hesitate to reach out!

Compensation & Benefits:

This position is full time with a competitive salary, amazing PTO and time off compensations, along with health, dental, and eye benefits, IRA-matched contributions, clothing and phone allowances, and paid licenses and CEU costs. There are also opportunities to make additional bonuses through trade work if desired.
