Range Funeral Home

Who we are: Range Funeral Home has been around since 1911. There is a strong history on the Iron Range that still exists but is changing with the population. There are two directors who share on call duties. The majority of our calls are now cremation (a lot of home deaths and transporting decedents). The workplace is professional but also accommodating to individual needs. I love having and being able to offer a flexible schedule as needed. We do about 150 calls a year. We have traditional and eclectic services. It is a very nice funeral home and and even better (huge!) prep room to work from. Our mission is to help the community cremate and bury their loved ones.

Where we are: Virginia, MN, has a lot of lakes, parks, hiking trails. I often bring my dog into the Superior National Forest at the end of the workday. There are grocery stores, some retail shops, restaurants, and most amenities you could ever need right here. Laundromat literally next door to the funeral home. Huge drive through garage (unlimited car washes!). There is also a spare bedroom with bathroom/shower/kitchen/space available within the building to stay while working or on call with the director.

Where we are: Madison is a delightful combination of small college town and midsize metropolitan. As the home of UW-Madison, there are plenty of activities available throughout the year - sports events, music, art, theater, etc. Madison has all the amenities you need (without the major traffic headaches of a large metro area) including shopping centers, excellent dining, plenty of craft breweries, and beautiful lakes with many trails for walking or biking. It is also a very dog-friendly town if you have a canine companion! The airport in Madison is continually adding destinations for direct flights, and we are only a short jaunt from Chicago airports which fly internationally and almost anywhere in the US.

Compensation & Benefits: Compensation is based on experience. This would be an hourly position, therefore overtime is time and a half! In 2004, a collaborative partnership with Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home was established to better serve area families, and Vertin-Munson Funeral & Cremation Service opened the doors of its newest facility in 2016.

Where we are: Southern Valley, as it is called, is a border town. Wahpeton, North Dakota and Breckenridge, MN. Breckenridge is where our history began and you can find our first funeral home, Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home. Requirements & Qualifications: 

What you’ll do: 

• Arrange and conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional, organized, and caring manner in keeping with company policies and procedures. 
• Perform a variety of tasks related to preparation of the deceased: removal and transfer, embalming, cosmetology, hairstyling, dressing, and casketing all within a respectful manner. 
• Build a strong relationship with the community through active involvement in area organizations and participation in charitable events. 
• Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment. 
• Ensure adherence to all professional, state, and federal licensing authority, regulations, and rules applicable to funeral service. 
 
Experience you need to bring: 
• Accountability for serving families in a professional, compassionate, patient, and timely manner, you have a strong dedication in serving others. 
• Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
• Experience with MS Office and social media (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)- yes, you’ll get social! 
• Strong organizational skills Educational Requirements: 
• Degree from Accredited Mortuary Science Program plus additional college credits as required in the applicable state. 
• Successful completion of the National Board Examination 
• Successful completion of the applicable State Board Examination 
• Valid Funeral Director and/or Embalmer State Licensure 
• Valid Driver’s License
