The Reality of the Role
You’ll work independently much of the time. The managing attorney is frequently in client meetings, court, depositions, or focused on drafting work. The rest of the team includes virtual assistants and a law clerk — but you may be the only person physically in the office for stretches of time. This isn’t isolation, but it does mean you need to be genuinely comfortable working alone, managing your own workflow, and making judgment calls without someone hovering.
You’re not micromanaged because there’s no time to micromanage. You’re trusted to use good judgment, ask questions when you’re stuck, and own your work. The attorney is available for questions and you’ll have regular check-ins — but the day-to-day rhythm of the role is independent.
If you need constant feedback, frequent check-ins, or a busy office full of coworkers to feel engaged, this won’t be a good fit. Where we are: About Sauber Legal Services LLC: We are a boutique elder law firm practicing in estate and tax planning, Medicaid and long-term care planning, probate, guardianship and conservatorship, special needs planning, financial exploitation, and litigation in those areas. Requirements & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree is a plus
• Experience in a high-stakes, high-emotion, confidentiality-driven environment

• Must be located within 50 miles of Eden Prairie, MN, or willing to relocate — this is not a remote position
• Willing to submit to a background check
• Experience with legal software or case management systems is a plus but not required — willingness to learn is required

Requirements & Qualifications: We ask that the applicant be actively enrolled in the University of Minnesota's mortuary science program. The position is available starting in mid to late June, 2026. Attendants are expected to divide on call duties equally for the month with a night attendant partner. Must have a valid driver’s license. Duties will include but are not limited to: Assisting the directors with funerals and other duties on evenings and every other weekend, light cleaning and some light outdoor maintenance (seasonal snow removal on sidewalks), supervising visitations, assisting directors on transfers, answering phone calls including taking initial death calls and speaking with families. Having good interpersonal and telephone skills is a must.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a live in position that includes a rent free single apartment (no roommate) with a kitchen including all utilities and Wi-Fi. Hourly pay plus extra pay for assisting on removals and work completed outside normal scheduled hours.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities as needed.
