The Mortician will be required to correspond with prospective donors and family members of current donors, and must communicate in a sensitive, courteous, and helpful manner. The Mortician position will assist with preparation and maintenance of donor bodies and anatomy laboratory equipment and spaces for health science professional anatomy courses on the UW-Madison campus and preparation, transport, and coordination of loans to partner institutions within Wisconsin. On-call availability (24 hours/day, alternating weeks) and in-state travel is required for the position. Additional responsibilities of the Mortician position include completing, filing, and maintaining all required documentation related to body donation, death certificate and cremation permit submission as required by the State of Wisconsin. Requirements & Qualifications: We are adding a Location Manager to our team!  Come and lead, coach and manage the day-to-day activities of Stenshoel-Houske Funeral and Cremation. You also will work both arrangements and embalming, upholding our mission of honoring lives and enriching caregivers. 
What you’ll do: 
• Manage employee performance using established metrics and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, ensuring timely feedback, and all other leadership duties. 
• Lead staff meetings and promote growth for employees. Support the staff and families we serve. 
• Arrange and conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional, organized, and caring manner in keeping with company policies and procedures. 
• Perform a variety of tasks related to preparation of the deceased: removal and transfer, embalming, cosmetology, hairstyling, dressing, and casketing all within a respectful manner. 
Experience you need to bring: 
• 2+ years of Funeral Director experience 
• 1+ Management/Mentorship experience 
• Accountability for serving families in a professional, compassionate, patient, and timely manner, you have a strong dedication in serving others. 
• Degree from Accredited Mortuary Science Program plus additional college credits as required in the applicable state
• To serve our Minnesota families, you must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent credits

Compensation & Benefits: At Vertin, we value transparency and equity in our hiring process. For this role, the salary range is $73,000-$88,000. Actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
