Annette L. Boman Women's Fellowship for Cancer Research Winner Announced!

The Annette L. Boman Cancer Research Symposium was held on Thursday, October 15, 2020. This virtual event is hosted annually by the University of Minnesota Medical School Foundation Office of the Duluth campus, honoring the memory of Dr. Boman, a gifted medical researcher. Keynote speaker, Timothy Starr, PhD, Assistant Professor in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School delivered a presentation entitled, “Getting Personalized with Ovarian Cancer - One Cell at a Time“. He described exciting new basic science approaches in his lab for tackling ovarian cancer with the possibility of new treatment strategies. Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Annette L. Boman Women’s Fellowship for Cancer Research. Hina Durrani, PhD graduate student in the Integrated Biosciences Graduate Program, was the winner. Hina is doing basic research in Dr. Sara Zimmer’s lab on oxidative stress responses at the molecular level with clear implications for understanding cancer. Congratulations, Hina!
