Kudos to the Yang Laboratory for receiving over 1.9 million dollars in funding from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) to support Neuroscience research at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus.

Kendall Wallace, PhD, Professor of Biomedical Sciences, and Jim Bjork, Researcher 3 in the Wallace lab, published their article "Molnupiravir; molecular and functional descriptors of mitochondrial safety" in the publication Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology. Molnupiravir, a new oral antiviral drug recently approved by the FDA, is administered to adult patients infected with COVID-19 who present severe risks of hospitalization or death, and who have no other treatment options.
Dr. Ruifeng Cao co-authored a research paper entitled "Autistic-like behavior and cerebellar dysfunction in Bmal1 mutant mice ameliorated by mTORC1 inhibition" in the journal Molecular Psychiatry. Dr. Cao discusses how disruption in the circadian rhythms may be linked to the development of autism. This series is a joint venture by Medical School, Duluth campus and College of Pharmacy, Duluth campus. During the academic year, seminars are held on Wednesdays of each month at 3:30 p.m. in Room 130 Medical School Duluth.

A collaborative effort of the Biomedical Sciences Department of the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus, and the College of Pharmacy Duluth to foster interdisciplinary collaborative research efforts and provide a mechanism for faculty and trainees to present their ongoing research.
