Gateways to Medicine and Research MS Program

The Gateway to Medicine and Research Program MS program is currently under development at UMN Medical School, Duluth campus. The MS program is expected to offer two tracks. Students interested in medical schools or health professions can opt for the 1-year PostBac (Plan B MS). Students interested in research careers can opt for the 2-year BMS MS (Plan A, thesis required). The Gateway Programs will focus its recruitment on underserved students, with an emphasis on Native students.

Integrated Biosciences Program

The Integrated Biosciences Graduate Program is a University of Minnesota systemwide program housed in the Duluth campus, offering MS (Plan A) and PhD degrees. IBS emphasizes principles that connect all fields of the biological sciences and prepares students for a variety of careers.

Undergraduate Research Training

Opportunities are available to prepare undergraduates for careers in research and as health professionals. Many research laboratories accept students as paid laboratory workers or through the UROP program of the University of Minnesota. In addition, the Bridges to the Baccalaureate program provides research training for students from underrepresented groups.
