Autism and Disruptions in the Biological Clock

Dr. Ruifeng Cao co-authored a research paper entitled "Autistic-like behavior and cerebellar dysfunction in Bmal1 mutant mice ameliorated by mTORC1 inhibition" in the journal Molecular Psychiatry. Dr. Cao discusses how disruption in the circadian rhythms may be linked to the development of autism. Dr. Ruifeng (Ray) Cao, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the department of the Biomedical Sciences in the Medical School at the University of Minnesota, Duluth Campus. Dr. Cao’s field of research focuses on studying the mechanisms of the circadian rhythms and how dysregulation of these rhythms affects the brain.
