A Legacy of Rural Family Medicine & Tribal Health: A Guest Lecture from Dr. Jim Boulger

Longtime Faculty member Jim Boulger, PhD, a Distinguished University Teaching Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Biobehavioral Health, made a special visit to the Duluth Campus on Thursday, September 2. During his visit, he provided a lecture to our first-year medical students, sharing his wealth of knowledge on the history of the Duluth Campus and our efforts towards improving healthcare in rural and Native American communities. 

Announcing his retirement in January 2021, Dr. Boulger worked at the Medical School, Duluth Campus, for 48 years and has become an anchor of our northern community, touching many alumni members over the decades. 

After the lecture, faculty, staff, and students gathered in the Courtyard behind the Medical School for remarks given by Drs. Raymond Christensen and Jennifer Pearson. Many of our first-year students got to know Dr. Boulger through their admissions process before his leave.
