The Department of Biomedical Sciences, Medical School, Duluth campus, is proud to announce that Dr. Alexandra Zachwieja, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, was selected as one of two faculty to attend the COP28, as part of the UMN Delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference. The process to get in was competitive and the selection challenging.

This year, the Conference of the Parties or COP28 will be held in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from November 30 to December 12, 2023. Dr. Zachwieja will attend the conference as an online observer due to other commitments.

This is a remarkable opportunity for Dr. Zachwieja who is a trained biological anthropologist dedicated to studying the effects of climate change on social-environmental systems and how they affect humans’ mobility, access, and health.

Congratulations Dr. Zachwieja on your selection to participate in the COP28!
