Bemis Lab

Bemis lab members

Led by Professor, Dr. Lynne Bemis, the current focus of the Bemis laboratory is the identification and characterization of noncoding RNAs in liquid biopsies. Extracellular RNAs (exRNAs) are an abundant group of noncoding RNAs, dominated by the microRNAs, tRNAs, and tRNA fragments. These exRNAs are potential biomarkers in a wide range of health conditions including cancer, infectious disease and alcoholism.

Molecular Methods Currently Being Developed

Dr. Bemis specializes in teaching precision medicine, molecular genetics, health disparities, cancer biology, and basic science concepts. Dr. Bemis is also the Course Director for Medical Student Journal Club and teaching faculty in the GENA curriculum.
