Undergraduate Research in Genome Engineering (URGE)
The URGE program provides undergraduate students with hands-on research opportunities in genome engineering at the Center for Genome Engineering (CGE). This program is designed to introduce students to cutting-edge research while offering structured support and mentorship.
Students begin by attending an introductory seminar, offered twice a year, where they learn about genome engineering research, available lab opportunities, and the application process. After attending the seminar, students can apply for placement in a CGE lab, where they will gain experience working on real-world research projects.
Once placed in a lab, participants have flexible research options, including conducting research for academic credit or as a paid position. (Learn more from our partners at the Undergraduate Research Office- UROP). Throughout the experience, students will be part of a cohort model, providing peer support, professional development opportunities, and mentorship to help them succeed in their research journey.
URGE is committed to fostering the next generation of genome engineers by providing the knowledge, resources, and community needed to thrive in a research environment.
