- January 3: The 2025 Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) Call for Abstracts is open. Abstracts are due February 16, 2025, and the tentative dates and location for the meeting are August 4-7, 2025 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center. - December 29: The Forest Lake Times published an article featuring our Military Medic to Medical School scholar Taylor Ritchot. The article highlights her experience in the military, her participation in MM2MS, and her aspirations to become a doctor.

- October 8: Leaders from the Translational Center for Resuscitative Trauma Care (TCRTC) met with Representative Michelle Fischbach and Senator Amy Klobuchar over the past week. Lisa Rogers met with Representative Fischbach in Wabasso, MN on October 2th, and Mike Puskarich and Amanda Hayward met with Senator Klobuchar in Jackson, MN on October 7th. The Senator and Representative and their staffers were briefed on the recently awarded NHTSA Safe Streets for All Grant, where the Southwest EMS Association, University of Minnesota, and Avel eCare will be implementing and evaluating the use of tele-EMS in the back of ambulances in Southwest Minnesota. We would like to thank our members of Congress and the rest of the team working on this project for the positive, productive meetings, and we look forward to continuing to work together on this important project.
- October 7: The Center's Pilot Project Program funding announcement has been released! We invite applications for pilot scale research projects with a focus on pre- or early hospital trauma care including rural trauma care, wound management, infection prevention, prolonged casualty care, point of injury care, and resuscitation. - September 20: Our partnership with Southwest Minnesota to improve health outcomes and reduce roadway fatalities for rural Minnesota residents was featured by the Medical School. Our research team will evaluate the efficacy of the telemedicine program by analyzing patient outcomes, emergency personnel usage, and satisfaction. Read the full article here!
- September 20: The Uniformed Services University is hiring a Professor/Associate Professor (tenure-eligible track) in the Department of Health Professions Education (HPE). See the full announcement here.
- September 20: We were featured in MPR! We are collaborating with Southwest Minnesota EMS and Avel eCare on a $9.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation as part of an initiative to improve and speed up care after crashes in rural communities. See the full article here!

- May 23, 2024: We'd like to congratulate Julia Harrison, MD for being the Clinical Research trauma paper winner for the Minnesota Surgical Society. Her paper is titled, "Emergency Medical Services Level of Training Affects Mortality in High-Risk Trauma Patients: A Combined Prehospital and In-Hospital Database Analysis". Congrats, Dr. Harrison!
- May 15, 2024: The Military Medic to Medical School Program attended The Special Operations Medical Association conference on May 15-16.
January-April 2024
- March 30, 2024: Dr. Mike Puskarich and Dr. Brian Driver will be speaking at this year's Design of Medical Devices Conference. They will be speaking about next generation sepsis diagnostics and emergency airway management on April 9 at 4pm. See the full schedule and register by April 1!

- March 5, 2024: We would like to congratulate Sarah Knack, MD, for receiving a TCRTC pilot project grant. Her project is titled, "ESCAPE-TBI".
- January 10, 2024: We are excited to partner with 3M, the 59th Medical Wing Science & Technology Office of the Chief Scientist, Naval Medical Research Unit-San Antonio, and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio on a program focused on treatment of traumatic wounds from point-of-injury to hospital. - January 5, 2024: Are you a dedicated first responder looking to influence positive change within your field? Your expertise and experience are invaluable in shaping improvements to better serve our communities. The University of Minnesota Translational Center for Resuscitative Trauma Care is conducting focus groups to gather insights directly from first responders like you to improve tools, decision support and training. Together we will identify areas where we can co-create tools, training and other support to improve patient care from point of injury to arrival at the hospital. Join us in this crucial effort to make meaningful improvements within the State of Minnesota. Learn more here.
September-December 2023
- December 21, 2023: Kathleen Stringer, PharmD, will be joining our Research In Progress Meeting on February 2 from 4-5:30pm at the Campus Club. Dr. Stringer is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Michigan. She also serves as a Deputy Director of the Weil Institute for Critical Care Research and Innovation formerly, MCIRCC. She leads a research program in Translational Metabolomics in Critical Care which is funded by an NIH Maximizing Investigators' Research Award (R35). She also lends her metabolomics expertise to pulmonary colleagues who study COPD and is a SPIROMICS investigator. If you are interested in attending, please email ([email protected]).
- December 20, 2023: We would like to congratulate Aaron Robinson, MD, on receiving a TCRTC Scholars Award! His project is titled, "Optimal Prehospital Airway Management with Patients with Major Trauma", and it will begin in early 2024.
- November 17, 2023: The Medic to Medical School Pathway Program was recently announced! The Star Tribune has written an editorial about some of the program's goals, its origins, significance, and support. To learn more about the new program, read the editorial here.

- September 7, 2023: Institute for Engineering in Medicine's Annual Conference is on September 26. April 3, 2023: Dr. Greg Beilman will be speaking at the 22nd Annual Design of Medical Devices (DMD) Conference on April 18th.
