The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) invites applications for the position of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Pathology.

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus has openings for two pathologists to teach pathology to medical students and to participate in scholarly activity in their chosen field of interest. 

Candidates are expected to have experience teaching pathology at the college or university level and have a record of scholarly activity commensurate with their career stage. Candidates will be hired on an Academic (non-tenure) Track at either the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank.

Required qualifications: 

  • MD/DO/DVM or Ph.D.
  • Postgraduate training in Pathology
  • Demonstrated scholarly activity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Board certified in Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology
  • Experience in, and enthusiasm for, teaching pathology in a professional setting
  • Experience in student evaluation and small group teaching
  • Experience in developing innovative teaching methods
  • Record of collaborative publication including basic science collaboration

Teaching:

The primary responsibility of this position is to teach and assess pre-clinical
medical students in an organ system based curriculum. There are also opportunities to
teach graduate level courses if desired. Teaching will occur in both large (~65 students)
and small (~6-8 students) group settings with an emphasis on active learning practices.
It is the expectation that all departmental faculty could serve as course directors if the
need arises. These positions will work with other faculty to thread pathology content
across the medical curriculum.
