Faculty Members Awarded Whiteside Institute Grants for Clinical Research
Biomedical Sciences faculty members, Professor, Dr. Kendall Wallace, and Assistant professor, Dr. Patricia Scott were each awarded research grants funded by the Whiteside Institute for Clinical Research within the Office for Research Support on the Duluth campus.
The Whiteside Institute for Clinical Research is a joint effort of St. Luke's and the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus to promote collaborative research in the region with focus areas of cancer, lung, and heart disease.
Dr. Wallace was awarded $10,000 for his project titled, "Differential Role of Mitochondrial Metabolism in the Success of Cancer Chemotherapy." Dr. Scott was also awarded $10,000 for her project titled, "Contribution of the oncogenic mutation BRAF V600E to poor prognosis in colorectal cancers expressing low levels of CFTR."
