Research Safety

The University of Minnesota’s Department of Environmental Health and Safety provides in-person and online training to meet regulatory requirements and also serves as a resource to promote health and safety. The DEHS also provides content and links to Federal, State and University Policies, Standards and Guidelines of all aspects of environmental health and safety for those who work in the University of Minnesota research environment.

All laboratory researchers and their supervisors, including Principal Investigators, must be trained according to the requirements of the Laboratory Safety Standard. The site provides links to a variety of forms used for meeting compliance issues in research safety (training records, controlled substances records, hazardous waste, etc.) or other reporting issues such as accident/injury reports.
