2026 Van Bergen Lectureship

The Department of Anesthesiology is excited to welcome Dr. Avery Tung to the University of Minnesota as the keynote speaker of the 12th Annual Van Bergen Lectureship. Dr. Tung will discuss, "The Future of Anesthesia Quality." His talk aims to identify anesthesia quality practices likely to evolve in the future and explore how evolving quality practices might change the current approach to anesthesia quality practices.

Dr. Avery Tung is a specialist in anesthesia and intensive care medicine. Currently, he is the director of critical care services for the University of Chicago Burn and Complex Wound Center, a multidisciplinary program dedicated to treating patients with severe burns.

Dr. Tung's research interests include factors affecting physician decision-making, clinical topics in critical care medicine, and effects of sedatives and anesthesia on the regulation of naturally occurring sleep.
