2026 Van Bergen Lectureship

The Department of Anesthesiology is excited to welcome Dr. Avery Tung to the University of Minnesota as the keynote speaker of the 12th Annual Van Bergen Lectureship.

Professor of Anesthesia and Critical Care
Director, Critical Care Services
University of Chicago

Dr. Avery Tung is a specialist in anesthesia and intensive care medicine. Currently, he is the director of critical care services for the University of Chicago Burn and Complex Wound Center, a multidisciplinary program dedicated to treating patients with severe burns.

Dr. Tung's research interests include factors affecting physician decision-making, clinical topics in critical care medicine, and effects of sedatives and anesthesia on the regulation of naturally occurring sleep.
