Fellowship Programs

The Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota offers advanced, multidisciplinary training for physicians seeking subspecialty expertise in the perioperative care of cardiothoracic patients. Through a rigorous clinical and academic experience, fellows develop in-depth medical knowledge, technical proficiency, and leadership skills under the guidance of dedicated faculty committed to excellence, compassion, and education.

The Critical Care Medicine Anesthesiology Fellowship provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary training in the management of complex ICU patients across surgical, cardiovascular, neuro, and medical intensive care units. Fellows develop advanced clinical and communication skills while training alongside leading critical care teams in a collaborative, academic environment.

The Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship offers comprehensive, one-year training focused on the safe, compassionate, and proficient care of newborns through adolescents. Fellows gain expertise through a curriculum grounded in ACGME core competencies, including patient care, medical knowledge, and professional development.

The Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Fellowship offers advanced, hands-on training in all aspects of regional anesthesia, acute pain management, and ambulatory anesthesia. Fellows gain extensive experience with ultrasound-guided and nerve-stimulator techniques, lead multidisciplinary pain rounds, and participate in academic activities to become highly skilled and marketable anesthesiologists.

Pain Medicine Fellowship

The Department of Anesthesiology co-sponsors the Pain Medicine Fellowship with the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. The program provides trainees advanced knowledge and skills in managing patients in pain while practicing excellent patient care and participating in a rigorous didactic environment.

Surgical Critical Care Fellowship

The Department of Anesthesiology partners with the Department of Surgery to offer the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship. The program offers a comprehensive combination of clinical experiences and research opportunities for fellows to apply new advances in critical care medicine.
