Bio
Dr. Ratan Banik is an associate professor in the Department of Anesthesiology. His research focuses on postoperative pain following surgical incision, which includes behavioral phenotypes, peripheral nociceptor sensitization, and pharmacologic modulation. To understand genomic effects associated pain behaviors after surgery, he performs transcriptomic analysis of rat dorsal root ganglia using state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing. The approach permits the assessment of all genes expressed in the primary afferent neurons, uncovering gene dysregulation and respective molecular networks critical for the development of postoperative pain. Ongoing studies are aimed at identifying a novel pharmacologic target with high therapeutic potential in postoperative pain.
Dr. Banik's clinical interests are to help patients achieve functional restoration and improved quality of life through an effective multidisciplinary approach to pain management.

Bio
Dr. Kumar Belani is a professor and the former Division Chief and Medical Director of Pediatric Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota Department of Anesthesiology. He currently serves as the Associate Director of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program. He also runs his own lab, the Belani Lab, which is currently focused on measuring cyanide toxicity, its treatment, and the role of sulfanegen, a new antidote.

Bio
Aaron Berg, DO, MHA, currently serves as the Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Fellowship Program Director and the Academic Division Director of Multi-Specialty Anesthesiology - West Bank. Dr. Berg is interested in regional anesthesia, as well as orthopedic and obstetric anesthesia and is highly involved in medical student, resident, and fellow education. His research is focused on the use of regional anesthesia and opioids on decreasing postoperative pain.

Roberto Blanco, MD, is an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Blanco received his medical degree from the University of Iowa and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the Barnes Jewish Hospital at Washington University. Dr. Blanco also serves as Co-Director of the Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Fellowship at the Department of Anesthesiology.

Bio
Dr. Jeff Boissoneault is the director of the Minnesota Alcohol and Pain Lab (MAPL). His research focuses on the application of behavioral, psychophysiological, and neuroimaging approaches to the study of pain and related constructs; alcohol and substance use; and their interaction. He also has interest in mechanisms underlying placebo efficacy, pain-related decision making, and the acute and chronic neurobehavioral effects of alcohol use.

Joanne Donnelly, DNP, APRN, CRNA, FAANA, has dedicated a career to the anesthesia care of patients undergoing surgery for over 25 years. As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Joanne provides anesthesia for Veterans at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis and performs the duties of the Associate Chief Nurse Anesthetist. Bio
Dr. Ilana Fromer is an assistant professor of anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota and is fellowship-trained in pediatric anesthesiology. She's originally from the Midwest but lived in the Northeast for several years for her residency and fellowship training, prior to moving back to the Midwest. She is currently the Associate Program Director of the Department of Anesthesiology Residency Program.
