We are interested in viral evolution, viral immunology, infection dynamics, and the functions of heterogeneity and collective interactions in infection systems. Specific areas of study in the lab right now include:

1)    Defining the host and viral factors that constrain the evolution of human and avian influenza viruses.
2)    Understanding how cellular heterogeneity in innate immune function is regulated and functions during infection.
3)    Examining the host and viral factors that influence the spatial dynamics of infection in complex tissue environments.
4)    Exploring the molecular origins and functional consequences of genomic heterogeneity within viral populations.
5)    High resolution quantitative profiling of viral and immune dynamics during human respiratory virus infection to identify new correlates of protection.
6)    Comparative immunology of common respiratory viruses in humans.
