Kudos to the Yang Laboratory for receiving over 1.9 million dollars in funding from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) to support Neuroscience research at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus.

The NIMH awarded a $250,000 per year R01 grant, over a five year period (05/09/2022 to 02/28/2027) to the Yang laboratory, led by Dr. Yi_Mei (Amy) Yang, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences in the Medical School, Duluth Campus. This grant is to fund research for the “Neurobiology of stress in the cerebellar circuitry.”

Drs. Matthew Slattery and Ezequiel Marron are Co-investigators on the grant. Drs. Salil PathakOwen Chao, and Daniel Levings are postdoctoral fellows who contributed to the award.

Congratulations to the excellent team!

The Yang lab studies synapse physiology in neural networks. By understanding the functions of synaptic proteins and ion channels at the cellular, circuitry and system levels, her lab aims to identify novel targets and further develop therapeutic strategies for neuropsychiatric disorders.
