Resiliency:
Cultivating adaptive strategies and suppoprtive networks to resist gender-based stigma and discrimination.

From what research on health care disparities has shown us, many gender diverse people are faced with stigma and discrimination. This is even more prevalent for gender diverse people of color, as well as other marginalized identities, and these experiences may also vary across the lifespan because of the recent shifts in society’s views of gender.

Of course,  what we all want is the removal of the stigma and discrimination to begin with, GALA™ recognizes that competent therapy is very important to personal resiliency (defined as the ability to flexibly navigate adversity, while still being able to function effectively in your day to day life), as is developing safe spaces to find solidarity and support--perhaps among family, friends, and community groups.
