The Department of Dermatology’s 2026 Research Day was held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 with over 30 faculty, staff, residents, students, and researchers attending. Research day featured guest and trainee presenters. 

Our guest speakers were:

  • Tracess Smalley, PhD, Post-Doctoral Fellow, Department of Molecular Oncology, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, “Engineering antibody-based inhibitors to HPV oncoprotein”
  • Cindy Im, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor, Division of Pediatric Epidemiology & Clinical Research, Department of Pediatrics, University of Minnesota, “Basal Cell Carcinoma Risk Prediction in Survivors of Childhood Cancer”

Presentations by trainees are a highlight of Research Day. This year, 14 outstanding poster abstracts were submitted and judged by an expert panel. A hybrid abstract session was held at the start of Research Day. Congratulations to the 4 recipients of the abstract awards, who also shared their work on Research Day.
