The Department of Anesthesiology is excited to announce Erik Anderson, MD, and Rafael Vinagre, MD, as our next Chief Anesthesiology Residents for the 2024-2025 academic year! They were both voted on by the faculty and their fellow residents.

"As chief resident, I will be an advocate for fellow residents, continue to improve our didactic curriculum and clinical rotations, and continue to foster a supportive and collaborative environment. My first priority is to empower and mentor fellow residents, creating a safe environment for growth and learning. I have strong interpersonal skills and innate ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, which will allow me to be an impactful liaison between residents and attending physicians. Furthermore, I strive to create a positive environment, cultivating a collegial culture within the department," stated Dr. Anderson.

"I am highly enthusiastic about medical education. My aim as a chief resident is to assist in the improvement of the residency and medical student curriculum, as well as evaluation and feedback tools to ensure that the learners have the best possible experience. I am approachable and confident in my ability to communicate effectively with both residents and leadership to work together towards our goals. Additionally, I will work toward improving the communication channel between residents and leadership. I am honored to represent our residents and department," stated Dr. Vinagre.

Join the department in congratulating them both on this outstanding honor!
