Dr. Connor Buechler is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Dermatology and Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He earned his medical degree with High Distinction from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, where he also graduated with distinctions in Biomedical Research and Community Service. Before entering medical training, he built a strong foundation in immunology and research as an Intramural Research Training Fellow at the National Institutes of Health and the University of Wisconsin's AIDS Vaccine Research Laboratory. Following medical school, Dr. Buechler completed a rigorous dual-certification residency in Internal Medicine and Dermatology at the University of Minnesota, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Buechler's clinical and research expertise lies at the complex immunologic intersection of dermatology and rheumatology. He has published and presented extensively on autoimmune connective tissue diseases, including morphea, systemic sclerosis, dermatomyositis, cutaneous lupus erythematosus, and sarcoidosis, while also driving research on dermatological care for historically marginalized populations. His dedication to exceptional patient care and academic excellence has been recognized with inductions into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies, recognition as a future leader within the Society for Investigative Dermatology, and numerous national and institutional awards for research, teaching, and leadership. He participates in clinical trials for the development of novel therapeutic strategies and works closely with peers across institutions through his active memberships in several organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Rheumatology, the Medical Dermatology Society, and the Rheumatologic Dermatology Society of North America.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Buechler is an accomplished bass/baritone vocalist who performs with the Minnesota Chorale. He also enjoys canoeing, tennis, and spending time with his family, including both his human and canine children.
