Summary
Dr. Alaei is Professor and Director of Medical Physics and the Director of Medical Physics Graduate Program at the University of Minnesota. He received his MS degree from the University of Florida in 1992 and his PhD from the University of Minnesota in 2000. He has been a faculty member at the University of Minnesota since 2001. His research in recent years has focused on the calculation of imaging dose from kilovoltage CBCT imaging, as well as other topics related to Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT). He has also been involved in research in orthovoltage dosimetry and other radiation therapy physics and dosimetry topics. He is an associate editor for Medical Physics and Physica Medica, and a member of AAPM Task Groups 180 and 319. He was co-director of the 2018 AAPM Summer School on IGRT and co-editor of the Summer School Proceedings: "Image Guidance in Radiation Therapy: Techniques, Accuracy, and Limitations".
