This policy outlines the process for academic probation, dismissal, and appeal for doctoral and master’s students in the Medical School. Students may be placed on probation for issues such as inadequate academic progress or failure to meet program expectations and are given an opportunity to remediate through a formal progress plan. If dismissal occurs, students have the right to appeal within 30 days. Appeals are reviewed by an independent committee, which considers documentation from both the program and the student and may either uphold the dismissal or allow continuation with a revised plan. The policy also clarifies timelines, required materials, and situations that fall outside the scope of academic dismissal appeals.
