Dr. Sara Burdash, MD, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician, and is the medical director for the Austere Medicine Program through the Translational Center for Resuscitative Trauma Care. She is the current National Guard Emergency Medicine Consultant to The Surgeon General (Army), and has more than 20 years of service in the military, where she is a lieutenant colonel in the MN National Guard and serves as the senior physician for 84th Troop Command, which supports federal missions and domestic operations with civil support, chemical, field artillery, engineer, and military police assets. She was previously the system medical director for emergency management and security for a large healthcare system. Dr. Burdash holds director-level certification in emergency management through MN Homeland Security and Emergency Management and is involved with national committees and interest groups for disaster medicine. She has academic interests and experience in disaster medicine and preparedness, resiliency, as well as austere, event, and tactical medicine.
