Dr. Duan is a laboratory geneticist who has expertise in a number of areas, among them deciphering human diploid genome integrity, instability, and variability via large-scale family-based multimodal genome analyses in rare Mendelian traits.
As a Laboratory Genetics and Genomics Fellow, he
• Completed comprehensive rotations in constitutional and cancer cytogenetics, molecular genetics and genomics, biochemical genetics, and molecular oncology
• Analyzed and interpreted NGS-based constitutional tests—including somatic mosaicism disorders, multi-gene panels, exome sequencing, and rapid whole-genome sequencing—and drafted clinical reports
• Interpreted NGS-based assays for hematologic malignancies and solid tumors, including MyeloSeq®, ChromoSeq™, and GatewaySeq®, with preparation of clinical reports
• Reviewed and interpreted cytogenetic studies, including chromosomal karyotyping, chromosomal microarray (CMA), fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and FFPE-FISH for both constitutionaland cancer cases
• Performed triage and provided on-call support in the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory
