The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is one of the top public academic research departments in the country.  Focus areas of research for the faculty include cancer, immunology, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular disease, and genetics.

Bharat Thyagarjan, MD, PhD, MPH is Professor and Head of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (LMP) at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Dr. Thyagrajan has deep institutional knowledge and an international reputation in molecular epidemiology and precision medicine.
