Sports Medicine
As a primary subspecialty of orthopedic surgery, sports medicine focuses on both operative and non-operative techniques to address issues in athletes, including strains, sprains, fractures, tendon and ligament injuries (such as ACL tears), joint instability, and other musculoskeletal problems resulting from sports or physical activity. Our goal is to facilitate recovery, restore function, prevent future injuries, and optimize performance for athletes across various levels and disciplines.
Our physicians are national leaders in sports medicine, serving as team physicians for the Minnesota Wild, the Minnesota Vikings, the University of Minnesota Athletics, the Minnesota Whitecaps, and the Minnesota State High School League. All are experts with additional certified qualifications in sports medicine.
Our team has gained recognition for providing exceptional clinical care to patients, conducting impactful research, and delivering thorough training to fellows, residents, and medical students. Additionally, the sports division offers a Cartilage Restoration & Joint Preservation Program that serves patients throughout the life of their affected joints by providing a comprehensive, collaborative care model.
