Former Stem Cell Institute Director, Jonathan Slack, PhD Awarded Wolpert Medal by the British Society for Developmental Biology
The Wolpert Medal "is presented to an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to the teaching and communication of Developmental Biology". Jonathan Slack, who was director of the Stem Cell Institute from 2006 through 2012, was recognized with the 2023 Wolpert Medal for his body of written work that included an influential textbook entitled "Essential Developmental Biology", as well as some primers on stem cells and genes that were geared towards a broader audience, among other contributions. He had been previously awarded the Waddington Medal in 2002 in recognition of his research on mesoderm induction, regeneration, and transdifferentiation. Read more.
