Dr. Loneman is from central Iowa. He attended Iowa State University for undergrad, where he studied biochemistry and developed an interest in metabolomics. After graduation, hw continued as a staff researcher within an NSF research thrust exploring production of bio-renewable petrochemical alternatives. During that time, his interests shifted to the practical application of scientific principles to human disease. He received an MD from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). At CWRU he studied immunophenotypic characterization of gamma/delta T cells by flow cytometry, an experience that influenced his decision to pursue training in pathology, and hematopathology. He completed his AP/CP training at Massachusetts General Hospital and then at Mass General Brigham as a hematopathology fellow.
