SCI Faculty Engineers a Model of Arterial Calcification
May 25, 2020
Accumulation of calcium in the vascular structures is a common process that can lead to cardiovascular disease and death. In collaboration with a group of colleagues at the University of Minnesota, Robert Tranquillo, PhD - a member of the Stem Cell Institute - has co-authored a paper describing a unique innovation aimed at speeding up the development of new therapies to manage arterial calcification. This is the first report of an in vitro tissue-engineered model of diffuse arterial calcification. Read the paper. Learn more about the Tranquillo Research Group.
