Jennifer Laffin, PhD, FACMG, joins LMP in cytogenetics and molecular diagnostics

Jennifer Laffin has joined the LMP faculty as a professor effective today, January 8.

Laffin comes to LMP from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, State Laboratory of Hygiene, Division of Disease Prevention- UW Cytogenetic Services and Molecular Genetics, where she was a clinical instructor. In addition, she was Sr. Laboratory Medical Director for Exact Sciences Laboratories, LLC in Madison. She was also Program Director of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics programs for UW Madison in Clinical Biochemical Genetics, Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics, Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics, and Laboratory Genetics and Genomics from 2015-2019.

Laffin received a PhD in genetics from the University of Iowa and completed clinical fellowships in Clinical Molecular Genetics at the University of Iowa and Clinical Cytogenetics at UW Madison. She was a member of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Pediatrics - Genetics and Metabolism faculty. All together, Laffin has more than 16 years of clinical laboratory leadership in genetics, genomics and molecular diagnostics and has served on the Association for Molecular Pathology's Clinical Practice Committee.

Laffin is board certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in Clinical Cytogenetics and in Clinical Molecular Genetics.
