LMP continues its climb up the NIH funding slope
Based on the 2022 pathology rankings by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR), the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology continues its National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding trendline in recent years.
LMP brought in $21,108,969 in NIH funds in 2022, ranking No. 11 in pathology departments nationwide. LMP ranked No. 3 among public universities in 2022 trailing only the University of Michigan and the University of Washington.
“I congratulate our faculty for this remarkable accomplishment,” said LMP head Leo Furcht. “They are giving us lots of momentum in a highly competitive endeavor.”
BRMRI data are derived from NIH year-end composite data for the federal fiscal year ending 30 September 2022, as released on the NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool (RePORT).
