Based on the 2022 pathology rankings by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR), the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology continues its National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding trendline in recent years. 

LMP brought in $21,108,969 in NIH funds in 2022, ranking No. 11 in pathology departments nationwide. LMP ranked No. 3 among public universities in 2022 trailing only the University of Michigan and the University of Washington.
