The Adoption Medicine Clinic (AMC) was founded in 1986 to heal children and families created through foster care and adoption and advocate for those remaining in institutional care throughout the world. For over three decades, we have been helping children and families with their unique medical, emotional and developmental needs. Our clinic has doubled in size over the past 5 years but the need far outweighs our current capacity.

In order to continue to expand our services for children and families who have experienced significant early adversity, we invite you to be a part of the Dana Johnson Society, to recognize the groundbreaking work of Dr. Dana Johnson MD, PhD., AMC’s founder, who is known as the father of adoption medicine worldwide.

Please consider joining us in creating this capacity building fund, which will increase our ability to provide world-renowned care to those most vulnerable in our society.

Through tireless research and advocacy, Dr. Johnson and the AMC staff have been helping children and families with their unique medical, emotional and developmental needs. The AMC has completed more than 30,000 pre-adoption reviews for children in over 40 countries and provides comprehensive pre and post-adoption services. Dr. Johnson’s research work led to sentinel, ground breaking discoveries and internationally recognized protocols. His dedication and advocacy on behalf of children without families is legendary. Combined with the clinic he helped create, Dr. Johnson has meaningfully improved the health of hundreds of thousands of children around the world and touched the lives of so many families- grandparents, parents and friends whose lives have been forever changed through adoption.

Today there are more than 15,000 children in the foster care system in Minnesota and 140 million children considered orphans, around the world. These children have experienced childhood trauma and can greatly benefit from the comprehensive care that the AMC has to offer. With greater awareness of racial and socioeconomic disparities, it is more important than ever to expand our efforts to improve the health of children who are adopted and in foster care across the state of Minnesota.

The Dana Johnson Society will be an integral part of our ability to raise funds that will support our cutting edge, multidisciplinary research, advocacy and provide critical care for children who are adopted and fostered both abroad and at home. As a member of this group, you will receive advanced notification of articles, opportunities to connect as we move post COVID in the upcoming months, complimentary admission to seminars and recognition/sponsorship of AMC events and activities. Dana Johnson Society membership is a unique opportunity to become part of our mission to heal kids. Your commitment of $5,000 will help our team continue to serve children in a meaningful way, and to become part of the legacy that was pioneered by Dr. Dana Johnson.
