Minnesota Monthly: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
September 8, 2020
When the novel coronavirus emerged, health care systems transformed.
Executive Medical Director of M Health Fairview Rehabilitation Shared Services and Assistant Professor, Dr. Farha Ikramuddin, witnessed the changes firsthand. She helped lead a group of specialists called the Post-Acute Centralized Referral Group at the Fairview Acute Rehab Center when the virus first emerged. The group meets every day to discuss each patient and develop a rehabilitation program specific to their needs. They've adapted their process to meet patient care now and are continually learning from previous cases and new literature.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is just one of the many specialties to feel the impact of the pandemic. Dr. Ikramuddin along with other specialty providers shared with Minnesota Monthly's September issue the impact of COVID-19 and how they are handling the unknown future.
