Paul Hoogervorst, MD, PhD, is an orthopedic surgeon and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Hoogervorst specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery, complex revision joint replacement, and the treatment of clavicle fractures. He provides comprehensive care for patients with hip and knee arthritis, offering procedures such as total hip replacement, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and patellofemoral knee replacement. He has particular expertise in caring for patients whose previous hip or knee replacements are painful or no longer functioning properly, including complex revision surgeries for implant wear or loosening, instability, infection, bone loss, and fractures around existing joint replacements.
Dr. Hoogervorst’s training has given him a broad and international perspective on orthopedic care. After completing medical school and orthopedic surgery residency in the Netherlands, he completed three fellowships in the United States: orthopedic trauma and research at the University of California, San Francisco; sports orthopedic surgery at SOAR in California; and adult reconstructive surgery at the University of Minnesota. In addition to caring for patients, he helps educate and train the next generation of orthopedic surgeons as Assistant Program Director of the University of Minnesota Adult Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship.
Dr. Hoogervorst will begin seeing patients at TRIA sites—TRIA St. Louis Park, TRIA Bloomington, and Methodist Hospital—October 23, 2026. Patients can make appointments by calling 952-831-8742 or online at TRIA's website. Patients are encouraged to review their insurance coverage to ensure that services at these clinics are covered by their plan if they wish to be seen by Dr. Hoogervorst at this location.
My goal is to provide each patient with excellent orthopedic care that meets their individual needs and follows evidence-based treatment strategies. I treat every patient as if they were a member of my own family. I will do everything I can to ensure we achieve the best possible results together.
I have a particular interest in improving the treatment of clavicle fractures. My PhD research focused on this topic and led to the development of an innovative, minimally invasive implant for displaced midshaft clavicle fractures.
